The moment you connect with someone emotionally, you have their attention.
Keep the viewer engaged, and deliver your vision. This is why really great directors usually have really great editors. Not only do you have to know the elements, you have to know where they came from- Who is creating this and why? Once the editor attaches so deeply to the vision, the end product will be more honest and likely to sprout more possibiliteies. Editing = 50% problem solving, 49% creative imagination, 1% secret sauce...
